Girl student allegedly dies by suicide in international school in Mumbai

A 16-year-old girl student was found dead in the bathroom of an international school in Goregaon East on Thursday. Police said the student, who was in Class 11, allegedly took her own life using the laces of her shoes.

According to officials, the student attended her classes as usual in the morning. During a break, she went to the school bathroom and did not return. When staff members noticed her prolonged absence, an attendant checked and found the bathroom door locked from the inside.

After breaking the door open, staff members discovered the student hanging inside. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Police said no suicide note was found at the scene. “The parents have not raised any suspicions or pointed to foul play,” an officer from the Aarey police station was quoted by news agency PTI in its report.

Authorities have registered an accidental death report and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. “We are speaking with classmates, teachers, and family members to understand what may have led to this,” the officer added.
