3 arrested in Rajasthan for smuggling 255 blood units
Three people were arrested in Rajasthan’s Jaipur district for allegedly smuggling 255 units of blood in a car from Makrana to Sawai Madhopur.
The Jaipur Rural Police intercepted the suspects during a routine check in Jobner area, about 50 kilometres from Jaipur. The suspects — Shravan Singh, Amin, and Mohammad Jabir — were stopped after officers grew suspicious.
A search of the vehicle revealed 255 units of blood being transported without proper documentation. The police detained the trio and called in officials from the Drug Control Department for further investigation.
Preliminary inquiries suggest the blood was being transported illegally from a private blood bank to Sawai Madhopur.
The police are now investigating further angles in the case. A probe is being carried out to ascertain the motive behind the blood smuggling and the number of people involved in the racket.
