Rohit Sharma’s 33rd century is loading as well: Suresh Raina after Cuttack blitz
Suresh Raina has claimed that Rohit Sharma’s 33rd ODI hundred will happen soon after the Indian skipper roared back into form with a blitz in Cuttack against England. Rohit had been in poor form heading into the match on Sunday, February 9, as he had just 166 runs in 16 innings across all three formats. The India captain’s dismissal in the first ODI didn’t help his cause as the fans trolled him.
Rohit, however, was a completely different player in Cuttack as he attacked the English bowlers from the get-go. The Indian skipper broke a host of records as he got to his 32nd hundred in just 76 balls and hit a total of 12 boundaries and 7 sixes during the knock. Rohit was dismissed at the end for 119 runs as India won the match by 4 wickets. Raina, while talking to Star Sports, heaped heavy praise on Rohit’s strokeplay and said that the Indian captain used his footwork effectively against the spinners.

“That 69 m six, the first shot—it deserves some commentary! My voice is already fading, but that flow, that signature of a great player, was evident. Look at all those shots in the ‘V’! He used his footwork brilliantly against the spinners. He played fewer dot balls after each boundary and six, focusing more on rotation,” said Raina.
‘Big players don’t leave anything for the series finale’
After his failure in the Nagpur ODI, Raina suggested that Rohit could come back to form in Cuttack. The former cricketer felt that the Indian captain had a different vibe in Cuttack. Raina claimed that big players like Rohit wouldn’t leave anything for the final game of the series and will ensure everything is wrapped by the second game.
“I had already said in the show that today is Rohit’s day. There was a different vibe in Cuttack, the fielding was sharp, and that’s how big players are—they win the series today, and they won’t leave Ahmedabad without seizing another opportunity. That 33rd century is also loading—I’m telling you!” said Raina.
India and England will play the final ODI of the series on February 12.
