Ravi Bopara excited to start coaching journey with Karachi Kings in PSL 10
Ravi Bopara expressed his excitement to begin his first season as the head coach of Karachi Kings ahead of the eagerly awaited Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.
During the team’s training session on Tuesday, Bopara described the opportunity as an “honor” and emphasized the importance of the PSL as a platform for player development.
Having previously played for the Karachi Kings, Bopara expressed his gratitude for the continued support from the team’s management throughout the years. He now looks forward to the next chapter of his career as he takes on the role of head coach.
“I have received tremendous support from the Karachi Kings management over the years. It’s been a great journey, from my days as a player for the team to now joining as head coach. It’s an honor to be a part of this exciting journey,” said Bopara.
The former England all-rounder stressed that the primary goal of the PSL is to develop future talent for Pakistan’s cricketing future, particularly focusing on emerging players and those hoping to make a comeback.
“The main goal of the PSL is to create players for the future of Pakistan cricket, especially the young players coming through the ranks. For those not currently in the national team, it offers a chance to get back into the mix,” Bopara explained.
“It’s crucial that we focus on developing players and helping them improve. I would love every player to leave this competition better than when they arrived, and that’s a key objective for us.”
Looking at the squad, Ravi Bopara highlighted the strong mix of local talent and experienced overseas players in the Karachi Kings’ roster. He believes that having seasoned players alongside young talents will provide the right balance needed for success.

“We have a very strong squad, especially when you look at the local players we have. It’s a solid core, and alongside them, we have a group of experienced overseas players,” he said.
“The right balance of experience is essential for success in competitions. In my experience, you rarely see a team with only young players winning a competition. It’s vital to have experienced players who can guide the younger ones, and we’ve got that.
“Our squad also has some excellent, experienced Pakistani players. Overall, it’s a very strong team, and I’m really happy with the squad we have.”
With the opening match of PSL 10 fast approaching, Ravi Bopara is eager to see how the team performs in the first game and beyond, with high hopes for a successful season.
“I’m really looking forward to watching the boys in action in the first game and seeing how the season unfolds,” he concluded.
It’s worth noting that PSL 10 will begin on Friday, April 11, with defending champions Islamabad United taking on Lahore Qalandars in the tournament opener at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Meanwhile, Karachi Kings will begin their campaign the following day, on April 12, with a home fixture against Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium.
