It’s the first Monday in May, which means that the biggest stars across film, music, fashion and beyond are gathering at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to celebrate “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

The Costume Institute’s exhibition examines over 300 years of Black style through the concept of dandyism, which sprung from the intersection of African and European style traditions. The dress code for the gala is “tailored for you,” inviting attendees to embrace menswear and tailored suits.

Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour has chaired the gala since the 1990s. This year’s co-chairs are actor Colman Domingo, musicians Pharrell Williams and A$AP Rocky and Formula One competitor Lewis Hamilton.
