Sanjay Raut’s family alleges life threat after masked men seen outside Mumbai house
The family of Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has claimed a potential threat to their lives after two unidentified individuals were spotted near their residence — Maitri Bungalow — in Mumbai. The incident occurred earlier in the day and has prompted a police investigation.
According to Raut’s brother, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Sunil Raut, two men on a motorcycle were seen outside the bungalow, with their faces covered by helmets and masks. The bikers allegedly took photographs of the residence and were spotted carrying multiple mobile phones.
Sunil Raut stated that local media personnel noticed the suspects and confronted them, but they quickly fled the scene. He added that the motorcycle’s number plate indicated it might be registered outside Maharashtra.
The Raut family has filed a formal complaint with the police, who have launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area is being examined, and police teams are conducting a detailed inquiry into the incident.
“This is not the first time such reconnaissance has occurred. A similar incident happened at my Safdarjung bungalow in Delhi earlier. While I trust the police to uncover the truth, the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated since the Shinde-Fadnavis government took office two years ago,” Sanjay Raut said.
“Political opponents of the current administration are increasingly facing such threats. However, we will not be intimidated and will continue to speak up for the people,” he added.
The Raut family has also expressed concerns over the security situation, especially in light of recent incidents, including threats to Bollywood actor Salman Khan and the assassination of NCP leader Baba Siddique.
