Akhanda 2 teaser out: Nandamuri Balakrishna’s action saga set for September release
Veteran Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu have joined hands for their fourth collaboration titled ‘Akhanda 2: Thaandavam’. A sequel to their 2021 film ‘Akhanda’, the makers unveiled the teaser of the upcoming project on the occasion of Balakrishna’s birthday.
The film is produced by Raam Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner and presented by M Tejeswini Nandamuri. The teaser, which was launched on Monday, June 9, showcases Balakrishna in a fierce new look, consistent with the spiritual tone and stylised action that marked the first film.
A key highlight of the teaser is a visual featuring the Trishul flanked by Nandi, set against snow-covered peaks resembling Kailash. The sequence, along with the actor’s walk and action scenes involving goons, reflects the film’s emphasis on mythological symbolism, over-the-top action, and mass appeal.
‘Akhanda 2: Thaandavam’ stars Balakrishna, Samyuktha, and Aadhi Pinisetty, with the latter playing the antagonist. Boyapati Sreenu appears to have maintained his signature approach to elevating Balakrishna’s screen presence. The action sequences choreographed by Ram-Lakshman blend spirituality and aggression, while Thaman S, who also composed music for the first part, renders background music that elevates the sequence to higher levels.
The makers revealed that the team is currently filming major portions in Georgia, including a key action sequence. Cinematography is handled by C Ramprasad and Santoshh D Detake, while editing is by Tammiraju. The film is scheduled to release on September 25, ahead of Dussehra.
Nandamuri Balakrishna was last seen in the hit film ‘Daaku Maharaj’, which also starred Bobby Deol, Urvashi Rautela, Chandini Chowdhary, Pragya Jaiswal, and Shraddha Srinath, among others. Having grossed over Rs 125 crores at the worldwide box office, ‘Daaku Maharaj’ became a profitable venture and one of Balayya’s biggest box-office successes.
