coaching centre refund aspirants – Coaching centres refund Rs 1.56 Crore to aspirants of National level exams

The Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA) has cleared the way for refunds for more than 600 students enrolled in coaching centres for national-level exams like UPSC, JEE Main and GATE.

As per the official release by the DoCA, the intervention helped secure refunds amounting to Rs 1.56 crore for students in the education sector. The refunds were processed after concerns were raised by the students about fee-related issues with their respective institutes.

The release also notes that the aspirants were denied rightful refunds even though they followed the terms and conditions which were set by the coaching institutes where they were enrolled.

The DoCA has instructed all coaching centres to follow the student-friendly approach along with establishing transparent refund policies in the interest of students’ financial interests.

The official statement says that many of the students have filed complaints through the National Consumer Helpline (NCH), which has helped resolve disputes and process refunds efficiently.

The department’s interference ensured that students were compensated for delayed classes, cancelled courses, or unfulfilled services, preventing them from facing financial losses.

The DoCA has also warned the coaching institutes against denying valid refund claims, stating that such practices would not be tolerated. Educational institutions have been urged to respect consumer rights and ensure fair policies for students.
