Couple in this viral video is not Navy officer Vinay Narwal and his wife
A short dance video featuring a couple dancing in the scenic background of Kashmir went viral after users claimed it showed Navy officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal and his wife, Himanshi, during their honeymoon, shortly after the Pahalgam terror attack. But the actual couple in the video has stepped forward, saying: it’s not them, and it never was.
The 19-second video, showing the couple dancing to Coke Studio’s Jhol in Kashmir’s Baisaran Valley, flooded social media platforms, including X.
It was widely shared with the claim that it captured one of the last moments of Lieutenant Narwal and his wife before the April 22 attack.
As the video gained traction, Ashish Sehrawat and Yashika Sharma identified themselves as the actual couple in the clip. According to reports, the video was filmed on April 14, during their vacation.
Sharing a video on Instagram, the couple clarified that they were safe and condemned the misinformation. “We are alive. We don’t know how our video is being used like this. It’s heartbreaking,” said Yashika. “We offer our deepest condolences to Lieutenant Narwal’s family. Please report any post misusing our video.”
