Delhi election results: PM Modi takes double hat trick of zeros jibe at Congress after BJP win

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Congress following the BJP’s decisive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, mocking the grand old party for securing a “double hat-trick of zeros” in the national capital.

Addressing BJP workers at the party headquarters, PM Modi pointed out that the Congress had failed to open its account in Delhi for six consecutive elections, including both Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.

“In Delhi, the Congress has scored a double hat-trick of zero. The country’s oldest political party has failed to open its account for six consecutive times in the country’s capital, and they are giving themselves a gold medal of defeat,” PM Modi said.

His remarks came after the BJP registered a landslide win, securing 48 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly, while AAP won 22. The Congress, once the dominant force in the capital, again ended up with zero seats, mirroring its performance in the last several elections.

The party has been unable to win a single seat in the last six elections in Delhi – three Assembly elections (2015, 2020, and 2025) and three Lok Sabha polls (2014, 2019, and 2024).

“The country is not ready to trust Congress; it sinks and also harms its allies. The Congress steals issues of its allies and attempts to appropriate their vote banks,” the Prime Minister said, further criticising the grand old party’s electoral strategy.

Intensifying his attack, PM Modi called the Congress a ‘parjeevi’ (parasite) party, accusing it of feeding off its allies. “Congress has become a ‘parjeevi party’. It not only drowns itself but also its allies. Congress is eliminating its allies one after the other,” he said.

The Prime Minister also claimed that today’s Congress operates by stealing the language and agenda of its coalition partners in an attempt to erode their vote banks.

“These people are giving themselves the gold medal in defeat. The truth is that the country is not willing to trust the Congress. I had said the last time that the Congress has become a parasitic party. It drowns and takes down its allies with it,” he added.
