Farmers protest turns violent in Telangana over low prices for groundnut crop – Telangana News
Tension gripped Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district on Monday as farmers protested against low prices offered by traders for groundnut crops.
The unrest occurred at the Achampet agricultural market, where peaceful demonstrations turned violent after authorities allegedly failed to address the farmers’ issues.
Angry protesters barged into the agricultural market office. They assaulted the market committee chairperson’s husband and staff members. The farmers also vandalised office furniture during the chaos.
Police quickly arrived at the scene to restore order. They brought the situation under control after removing the protesters and securing the premises by locking the office.
No major injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the incident.
