FIR against BRS IT cell for spreading fake news on Hyderabad Central University land – Telangana News


The Cyberabad police have registered an FIR against members of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) IT Cell for allegedly spreading misleading content about Hyderabad Central University land, aiming to provoke public unrest.

According to the FIR filed at Gachibowli Police Station, the complaint was lodged by Bagannagari Arundawaj Reddy, a resident of Serilingampally. He alleged that BRS IT Cell members, including incharges Kontam Dileep and DR Krishank, used the party’s official Instagram handle to alter photos and videos with unverified information about Hyderabad Central University land. These manipulated posts were allegedly circulated on various social media platforms to incite students and protestors.

The complaint, filed on April 2, 2025, at 8.30 pm, states that the petitioner discovered the fabricated content earlier that day at 2 pm. As evidence, he provided ten attested copies of posts from the BRS’s official page and links to the manipulated content.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under sections 353(1)(b), 353(1)(c), 353(2), 192, 196(1), and 61(1)(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The charges include, penalty against dissemination of false information and actions that could incite public disorder, spreading false information intended to promote enmity between groups based on religion, race, or other factors, carrying similar penalties.

The investigation has been assigned to Sub-Inspector Mahesh Goud, and further legal action is expected.
