Girl’s private parts injured for ‘wetting bed’ at Kerala home, 3 arrested – Kerala News

Kerala Police have arrested three caretakers of a government-run children’s home following allegations of abuse against a two-and-a-half-year-old girl. The accused — identified as Ajitha, Maheswari, and Sindhu — face charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act.

The police said the child was injured in private parts, allegedly as punishment for wetting the bed. Fingernail marks were found during a medical examination after the girl was taken to a hospital for an unrelated health issue. Officers believe the injury occurred around a week before it was discovered.

According to Arun Gopi, General Secretary of the Child Welfare Committee, all staff members on duty during the week of the incident were dismissed. The girl and her younger sister have been staying at the facility since their parents passed away.
