IND vs ENG: Jos Buttler’s England name playing XI for Kolkata T20I

England have named a strong playing XI for their opening T20I against India to be played on Wednesday, January 22 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Fast bowler Gus Atkinson has returned for the Three Lions after more than a year since last playing on the tour of the West Indies in December 2023. In three T20Is, Atkinson has taken six wickets at an economy rate of 9.50.

The 27-year-old Atkinson has Jofra Archer, Jamie Overton and Mark Wood as his partners in the fast bowling department. Atkinson has mostly flourished for England in Test and would be keen to make a mark in the white-ball formats as well. Adil Rashid is the only specialist spin bowling option along with the other options of Liam Livingstone and Jacob Bethell.

On January 18, the England cricket team reached India and started their training sessions. Livingstone was the first to check in after he flew in straight from South Africa following his stint with the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 2025.
