Kanimozhi slams Governor Ravi’s role, DMK accuses Governor RN Ravi of disrespecting Tamil Nadu Assembly – Tamil Nadu News

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Deputy General Secretary, and Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi accused the BJP-led central government of appointing Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi solely to trouble the DMK government and insult Tamils.

Addressing party members at a massive protest in her constituency on Tuesday, Kanimozhi criticised the Governor for walking out of the Legislative Assembly without reading the state government’s customary address.

Kanimozhi alleged that the Governor’s actions disrespected the Assembly and suggested he refrain from attending sessions if he was unwilling to fulfil his constitutional duties. “Why play politics? The Governor can take leave instead,” she remarked, adding that Chief Minister MK Stalin’s patience was nearing its limit.

The protests, held across Tamil Nadu by the ruling party, condemned the Governor for boycotting the Assembly session. The DMK accused him of attempting to undermine a five-decade-long tradition. DMK Organisation Secretary RS Bharathi alleged the Governor was “jealous” of Tamil Nadu’s progress under Stalin and dismissed his reasons for skipping the session as “lame excuses.”

Raj Bhavan defended the Governor’s actions, stating he left the Assembly in “deep anguish” over alleged insults to the constitution and the national anthem. BJP Mahila Morcha president Vanathi Srinivasan criticised the DMK for its stance, claiming the party habitually undermines the Governor’s position.
