Kejriwal to Rajya Sabha – Arvind Kejriwal to enter Rajya Sabha from Punjab, claims Congress leader

Punjab Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa on Tuesday alleged that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal could contest the Rajya Sabha elections from Punjab.

He also reiterated that there was a split brewing within the AAP after it lost power in Delhi, with the majority of its heavyweights also facing defeat. Bajwa claimed that he is in touch with many AAP MLAs who are likely to switch sides.

“Kejriwal wants to enter power through Punjab, and some Rajya Sabha members will have to sacrifice and make way for him,” the Congress leader said.

He also alleged that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann does not have any control over the government and the party.

“I stand by my words. AAP MLAs are in touch with me. What Bhagwant Mann is saying has no meaning, as nobody is with him,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mann responded sharply, calling Bajwa’s remarks rhetoric to hog the media limelight.

“They are into establishing contact with other MLAs but do not have any contact with their own,” the AAP leader quipped during a debate in the Assembly.

Mann added that the Congress has been predicting his downfall since he took office, yet nothing has happened. “A day after the Delhi assembly polls, they again claimed that I will be replaced,” he said.

“You scored a zero for the third time in Delhi. You set your house in order. There are four to five groups (in Punjab Congress),” the Chief Minister said, adding that Congress leaders unabatedly issued “irrational statements”.

The AAP, which has governed Delhi for a decade, secured only 22 seats in the 70-member Assembly, while the BJP reclaimed power after 27 years. Punjab remains the only state where AAP is currently in power.
