Mahindra does it again! With EVs now. BE 6, XEV 9e get 30,179 bookings worth Rs 8,472 crore
Mahindra SUVs have garnered handsome bookings on the first day of their commencement over the past few years. Take the example of the Mahindra Scorpio-N, Mahindra XUV 3XO and the Mahindra Thar Roxx. The trend has continued with the company’s new electric vehicles (EVs), the Mahindra BE 6 and the Mahindra XEV 9e.
Bookings for the BE 6 and the XEV 9e opened today (February 14, 2025) at 9 AM. According to Mahindra, the two EVs cumulatively received 30,179 bookings on day one. Their collective booking value is Rs 8,472 crore at the ex-showroom price.
The split between the BE 6 and the XEV 9e was 44% and 56%, respectively. The top-end Pack Three, featuring a 79kWh battery, accounted for 73% of the total bookings across both brands.
The BE 6 and the XEV 9e carried on Mahindra’s powerful day-one performance in terms of bookings. For reference, the Scorpio-N received over 1,00,000 bookings in 30 minutes in 2022. The XUV 3XO got over 50,000 bookings in 60 minutes in early 2024, while the Thar Roxx broke all records with 1,76,218 bookings in 60 minutes late last year.
The day one bookings for the BE 6 and the XEV 9e become more impressive if we consider the fact that the electric car segment is still at a nascent stage in India. The electric car sales stood at 99,165 units in India in 2024, according to data from the industry body Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). Their contribution to the overall car sales in 2024 was merely 2.4%.
Based on the EV-specific INGLO platform, the BE 6 and the XEV 9e have a couple of battery pack options — 59kWh and 79kWh — and motor choices — 170kW and 210kW. The 170kW motor is paired with the 59kWh battery, while the 210kW motor is mated to the 79kWh battery. The motor torque is similar in both cases, at 380Nm.

The 0-100kmph acceleration time is claimed to be 6.7 seconds for the BE 6 Pack Three 210kW/79kWh and 6.8 seconds for the XEV 9e Pack Three 210kW/79kWh. The claimed range is 683km (MIDC part 1 and 2) for the BE 6 and 656km (MIDC part 1 and 2) for the XEV 9e, supported by fast charging capability (20-80% in under 20 minutes with a 175kW DC charger).
