Moeen Ali downplays hype around Pakistan’s pace attack

Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali has tempered the excitement surrounding the fast bowlers of Pakistan, suggesting that the accolades they have received may be exaggerated.

While speaking during a Podcast, Ali shed light on Pakistan’s pace bowling trio, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi.

He expressed his views, saying that there is the notion that people, especially those with Pakistani background, often claim that Pakistan has the best seamers.

“There is this thing, people especially with Pakistani background will say Pakistan has the best seamers. I am like no. They are good, but no they are not the best,” he said.

Moeen Ali acknowledged their talent, mentioning that they are very good bowlers, but they are not the best either.

He also acknowledged that Pakistan produces excellent fast bowlers due to its effective coaching system.

“Pakistan do produce good fast bowlers and it’s is something in their coaching. Having seen guys coach them, they coach unbelievably well, ” said Ali.

Ali’s remarks came at a time when the trio has garnered significant praise in Pakistan.

In recent years, Shaheen, Naseem, and Haris have displayed signs of declining performance, particularly in major international tournaments, a point that Moeen Ali highlighted.
