Pritam Chakraborty robbery case office boy arrest – Mumbai Police arrest music composer Pritam Chakraborty’s office boy in theft case
Mumbai police have arrested a man in connection with the theft of Rs 40 lakh from the music studio of Bollywood composer Pritam Chakraborty. The suspect, Ashish Butiram Sayal, 32, worked as an office assistant at the studio. He was taken into custody in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district.
Officials from the Malad police station launched a probe after the theft was reported on February 4. CCTV footage from the studio did not clearly show the suspect’s face. The police reviewed 150 to 200 CCTV recordings from Kandivali, Malad, Charkop, Versova, Marve Road, Malwani and Samta Nagar to trace the suspect.
Footage showed Sayal leaving the studio and taking a rickshaw to Kandivali. He then walked for several hours before reaching Charkop. From there, he took another rickshaw to Marve Road, walked for a while, and later reached Malwani. He remained there for some time before taking another rickshaw to Samta Nagar. He walked around that area before taking a rickshaw to Versova. Sayal spent about eight hours moving through different locations, alternating between rickshaws and walking, before leaving the city.
Police used technical surveillance to track him to Samba. A team located him in the Railway Road area and arrested him. Officers recovered around Rs 34 lakh in cash, an iPhone and a MacBook worth Rs 2.87 lakh. The stolen money had been used to buy electronic devices, which were seized.
At the time of his arrest, a large crowd gathered at the police station in Samba. Officers explained the details of the case to the public before taking Sayal into custody. He has been brought back to Mumbai for further legal proceedings.
