Rohit Sharma enjoys vacation with family in Maldives before IPL 2025: See pics

Days after leading India to Champions Trophy glory in Dubai, Rohit Sharma has headed to the Maldives for a short vacation with his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, and daughter, Samaira. The Indian captain shared photos from a beachside resort in the Maldives on the festive occasion of Holi, March 14.

While most cricketers have joined their pre-season camps for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, a few members of the Champions Trophy-winning squad have opted for a brief break before the high-octane T20 season. While the likes of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja have reported to their respective IPL franchises, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are yet to join their pre-season camps.

Captain Hardik Pandya has joined the Mumbai Indians camp and he was also seen meeting the WPL team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, ahead of the final in Mumbai.

Rohit is expected to join the pre-season camp next week. Mumbai Indians begin their IPL2025 campaign March 23 in Chennai, a day after the season opener between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Kolkata.

Rohit Sharma has found time to unwind after a busy 2024-25 season in which he led India in Tests and one-dayers. The India captain also played a round of Ranji Trophy after his batting failures in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

While Rohit Sharma’s place in the Test side is up for debate after his woeful form in the 2024-25 season, the India captain has silenced doubters, who called for his retirement in one-day internationals.

Speculation was rife that Rohit would announce his retirement after the Champions Trophy final, but the captain made it clear that he was not going to hang up his boots anytime soon.

However, Rohit said he is not thinking too far ahead when asked about the chances of playing in the 2027 World Cup.

“Right now, I am taking things as they come. It wouldn’t be fair for me to think too far ahead. At this moment, my focus is on playing well and maintaining the right mindset. I don’t want to draw any lines and say whether I will or won’t play in the 2027 World Cup,” Rohit told Star Sports after winning the Champions Trophy.

Rohit Sharma will be keen on making a mark in the IPL 2025 season as Mumbai Indians look to regain their old form after finishing 10th last season.
