Tapu-Sonu wedding in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah? Fans say ‘must be Bhide’s dream’
The latest promo of Indian television’s longest-running sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has left fans surprised and hysterical. In the promo, Jethalal’s son, Tapu, marries Bhide’s daughter, Sonu, much to the shock of their families. Fans reacted to the clip, speculating that it must be a dream sequence in the show.
The promo shows Tapu and Sonu, dressed in wedding attire, at a temple. As their families arrive, Tapu announces, “Hamari shaadi ho gayi, humein aashirwaad dijiye (We are married now, give us your blessings).”
While Tapu’s father, Jethalal, and grandfather accept the union, Bhide disapproves and tells Tapu, “Tum mere jamai kabhi nahi ban sakte (You can never be my son-in-law).”
Fans of the show joked about how many times Bhide would have the same dream. “Ek hi sapna kitni baar dekhna padega? (How many times will we see the same dream?)” an Instagram user wrote. Another commented, “I am telling you, this is Bhide’s dream.” One joked, “Jethalal’s dream come true” (laughing emojis).
For those unfamiliar with the sitcom, Bhide has never liked Jethalal’s son, Tapu, and has always been worried about his daughter, Sonu, falling in love with him.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is India’s longest-running TV sitcom. It premiered in 2008 and features Dilip Joshi as the beloved character Jethalal. The show also stars Amit Bhatt, Shyam Pathak, Mandar Chandwadkar, Tanuj Mahashabde, and Sonalika Joshi, among others.
