Who Is Dylan Meyer? All About Kristen Stewart’s Wife
Kristen Stewart, the 35-year-old star known for ‘Twilight’, married Dylan Meyer in a private ceremony at their Los Angeles home on Sunday, April 20, according to TMZ.
The couple exchanged vows in front of a small group of loved ones, including Ashley Benson and her husband, Brandon Davis, after securing a marriage license at the courthouse. Meyer, a screenwriter and actor, stepped into the public eye in 2019 when she began dating Stewart.
A talented screenwriter and actor
Dylan Meyer, daughter of Oscar-nominated screenwriter Nicholas Meyer, has made her mark in Hollywood as a writer and actor. She has writing credits for films like ‘Loose Ends’ (2015) and ‘XOXO’ (2016), which stars Sarah Hyland. Meyer also contributed to eight episodes of the comedy series ‘Miss 2059’ between 2017 and 2018. Her most notable work includes co-writing the screenplay for Amy Poehler’s 2021 Netflix film ‘Moxie’ with Tamara Chestna.
Additionally, Meyer has acted in short films such as ‘The Death’ and ‘Return of Superman’, ‘Wrestling Isn’t Wrestling’, and ‘Jem Reacts to the New Jem’ and the ‘Holograms Trailer’, as well as an episode of ‘Homemade’ alongside Stewart. In May 2023, she joined the Writers Guild of America strike, posting on Instagram, “You may not know this, but we (the writers) have struck because ‘The Man’ is trying to get us down. Without writers, your movies and tv shows will suck. Trust. Our fight for fair wages is so important we’ve been forced to walk around and wave signs about it – and we need your support! If you love stories, tell the studios to value the storytellers! (sic)”
A romance that began in 2013
Stewart and Meyer first met in 2013 on a movie set, but their romance didn’t begin until 2019. On The Howard Stern Show in November 2019, Stewart recalled their reunion through a mutual friend. She said, “I met her years ago on a movie and I hadn’t seen her in six years, and then she rocked up at a friend’s birthday party, and I was like, ‘Where have you been, and how have I not known you?’ She’s been living in LA alongside my life somehow, but not ever converging.” Stewart noted their shared roots, saying, “We’re both from LA and we really love LA. We both felt like trolls as kids. We’re like so similar but different. She’s a writer. She’s brilliant.”
Their bond was instant, with Stewart adding, “The day that I met her, it was like all bets were off.” According to the People Report, their shared passions have strengthened their relationship.
A public romance and engagement
Romance rumours surfaced in August 2019 when Stewart and Meyer were photographed kissing in New York City, a month after Stewart’s ex, Stella Maxwell, was seen with her in Italy following their December 2018 split. Meyer confirmed their relationship on Instagram on October 27, 2019, sharing a black-and-white photo of them kissing with the caption, “Find me under the covers hiding from the happiness police (sic).”
In November 2021, Stewart shared on The Howard Stern Show that Meyer proposed, saying, “It’s not a given that I would be the one, you know what I mean? Like, with two girls, you never know, like, who’s going to fulfil what weird f***ing gender role thing, and we don’t do that or think about it in those terms.
So I was like, ‘Wait, well, I’m not the one for sure.’ And so I was kind of joking for a bit, like, ‘No, I want to be the one to propose, like, I want to be proposed to,’ and then she just grabbed that bowl and made it happen. It was f***ing so cute.” On The Tonight Show, Stewart praised Meyer, saying she “knocked it out of the park.”
Stewart and Meyer enjoy group outings, such as their January 2022 Disneyland trip with friends, including Ashley Benson. Benson posted photos on Instagram, showing the group at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, wearing matching tie-dye Walt Disney sweatshirts. She captioned the post, “Family trips to Disney (sic).” Meyer often shares tributes to Stewart on Instagram, despite Stewart’s absence from social media.
For Stewart’s 32nd birthday in April 2022, Meyer posted a photo of them kissing over a cake, writing, “Another one around the sun and you’re out here getting flyer every year. Time looks good on you, dude. Ya know, as they say in the toons, ‘awooga.’ (sic).” In 2022, for Valentine’s Day, she shared a photo of them in pyjamas and zombie makeup, captioning it, “I’ll play dead with you any time, Valentine (sic).”
In 2023, Meyer posted three Valentine’s Day photos, recalling a casino night and writing, “And even this, the clear peak of my short time on earth, does not remotely come close to how it feels to spend a Monday night in sweatpants with you, Valentine.”
Meyer also supported Stewart’s career, attending the 2022 Critics’ Choice Awards and Academy Awards, where Stewart was nominated for Best Actress for ‘Spencer’, and the 2023 premiere of Hulu’s ‘Living for the Dead’, which Stewart executive produced.
Creative projects and future plans
Stewart and Meyer are collaborating on creative projects. In Vanity Fair’s 2022 Hollywood issue, Stewart revealed they’re developing a TV show where she’ll star, writing the first episode in under two weeks. “We discovered a superbrain,” Stewart said of Meyer. “She’s a really genuinely brilliant f***ing screenwriter.”
In June 2023, Stewart told Interview magazine they’re co-writing a “stoner girl comedy” film that’s “really f****ng stupid.” In February 2024, Stewart told Rolling Stone they plan to start a family soon, despite their busy schedules ruling out a big wedding.
“I don’t know what my family’s going to look like, but there’s no f***ing way that I don’t start acquiring kids,” she said, noting excitement but nervousness about childbirth. As per the People Report, their recent marriage marks a new chapter.
Stewart and Meyer’s story, from their 2013 meeting to their creative and personal milestones, showcases a partnership rooted in mutual respect and shared goals, culminating in their commitment to a future together.
